Her story is an inspiring testament to the representation of women in the IT industry at Home Credit. Beginning with her love for programming, Minh has not only developed her professional skills but has also boldly explored business and finance aspects, confidently transitioning from a technician to a Business Analyst. Her journey proves that women in technology can overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and assert their value.

❓Could you share your most memorable moment since joining Home Credit?

I joined Home Credit in July 2021, right during the social distancing due to Covid-19 and faced several initial difficulties. Despite working remotely, I was very impressed by the thoughtful support and care from the company. The HR department not only sent essential equipment for my work to my home but also prepared gifts to welcome me. This enthusiasm and attentiveness left a very positive first impression about the work environment at Home Credit. It wasn’t until nearly six months later that I had the opportunity to meet my colleagues in person and experience the office.

❓During the remote working period, did you encounter many difficulties in getting to know and connect with your colleagues? What helped you overcome these challenges and integrate into the new work culture and environment?

When I started working remotely, I faced many challenges in connecting with colleagues and adapting to the new environment. The communication mainly through online platforms created a gap, making it difficult for me to express myself and build relationships. However, I received enthusiastic support from everyone, including my leader. They frequently checked in on my health and work, creating opportunities for me to socialize and get familiar with my tasks.

Despite facing difficulties due to geographical distance, the open and friendly culture at Home helped me overcome these challenges. I felt encouraged to integrate, work effectively, and develop myself in the new environment. Additionally, the training and talent development culture at Home greatly supported me in learning and enhancing my skills. I actively participated in all courses at the business school organized by the company, which not only expanded my knowledge but also provided opportunities to connect with colleagues. With my role in building communication systems for departments, attending the business school and listening to insights from experienced colleagues helped me better understand how each department operates, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the communication system through various projects.

❓During your work experience, did you receive guidance and direction from management and leadership within your department? How have you been empowered in your work?

I received much support from my team leader, Dương, not only in my work but also in my personal life. He always helps me complete tasks efficiently while balancing work and personal life to maintain my health and well-being. Additionally, Hoàng, the head of the IT department, has advised and guided me on my career path, providing opportunities for me to engage in suitable projects. When starting new projects, Hoàng and my colleagues always accompany me, assisting in connecting and collaborating with other departments, helping me quickly grasp my work and effectively complete projects. Notably, when I gather information from other departments, everyone is enthusiastic about arranging time and sharing their experiences and expertise to support me.

❓In the IT field, it seems that most of the workforce is male. As a woman working in this area, have you faced many challenges?

Currently, I work in the Business Analyst, and I find that the presence of women in this field is an advantage. I and my female colleagues tend to be more meticulous in data analysis. Moreover, the nature of the job requires frequent communication and connection with other departments, providing me opportunities to showcase my communication and networking skills. Ultimately, I feel that being a woman in the IT industry not only presents challenges but also opens many opportunities, which is more than the difficulties that people often perceive.

❓What advice do you have for young women who want to pursue a career in IT?

Today, the IT sector is one of the most attractive fields in the job market. However, the competition in this industry is fierce, requiring individuals to continually strive to follow their passions. Although this field tends to have a higher male-to-female ratio, both in classrooms and workplaces, young women should not worry or be discouraged. They should confidently pursue their passions, be ready to challenge themselves, and learn from mistakes to grow every day.

As I have shared, despite the challenges, women in IT also possess many advantages and strengths. They should leverage these strengths to compete and advance in their careers. If possible, young women should consider applying to Home Credit, one of the leading technology companies in the market. The technology system at Home is extensive, allowing individuals to explore and develop their potential. Additionally, with an IT team scaled and invested at the level of a tech outsourcing company, you will have the opportunity to learn directly from colleagues and management through practical work experiences.
